PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE: MAY/JUNE 2012
Another busy April has just concluded and once again our students represented KTTPS extremely well at the Owen Sound and Walkerton Kiwanis Music Festivals. We hope everyone can come out on May 16th to hear our wonderfully talented students at our Spring Music Concert (7 p.m.).
April 30th was the final of three transition planning meetings for school and Board representatives. The meeting took place at Elgin-Market and discussions centered around transition activities for the students at all three schools as well as Home & School and SCC concerns and considerations. Dates in the beginning of June have been established for school visits for our grade 3-7 students. Information to families will be sent home soon. As always, our graduating grade eight students will be visiting their respective high schools in the upcoming weeks.
Our grade three and six students will be writing the provincial EQAO assessment between May 28th to June 6th. Parents of these students are asked not to book any out-of-school appointments during this time. In other areas, the grade 3-8 students are also gearing up for our Track and Field meet on May 31st. Any parents wishing to help out on this day are invited to contact the school.
May 18th is another important date as we hold our annual Volunteer Appreciation assembly. The students and staff enjoy the opportunity to demonstrate their appreciation for all that our wonderful volunteers do throughout the school year. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated and caring individuals donate their time and energy to a variety of causes and functions within our school. You truly do make a difference!
June will be a busy and nostalgic month as we conclude not only this school year, but our final year as a JK-8 school. I am sure there will be many smiles (and some tears) as we all transition. Change can be difficult, but once September arrives, and yet another new school year begins, I am sure the students will be excited about their new school and the prospect of making new friends at Huron Heights.
So, stay tuned for a busy couple of months! Remember to call the school should you have any concerns.
All the best in the weeks ahead.
