Message from the Principal

Principal’s Message- November/December 2009

Incredibly, we are in the final weeks of term one already. Teachers are busy reviewing student work and assessments to determine report card results. Report cards will be going home on December 1st. We encourage and appreciate parents taking the time to review the reports, celebrating the successes and reviewing suggested next steps for further improvement. Your involvement and support in your child’s education is a critical factor in their ongoing success. As well, teachers appreciate the opportunity to review results with parents during the parent-teacher interviews, being held on December 3-4th. This is an important time to set educational goals for the next term.
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will run during the week of November 30th to December 4th. The book fair offers a wide variety of reading selections as well as genres for our students and their families. Many families take advantage of this time to purchase Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers. Who doesn’t love a good book?
We continue to be vigilant about maintaining a healthy work place during the flu season, with daily reminders to students about proper hand washing and hygiene etiquette. A reminder, that the BWDSB maintains an updated link on their web site pertaining to pH1N1 concerns and questions. Parents are encouraged to access this site for the latest information.
Within the upcoming two months the students will be busy with ongoing curriculum studies as well as enjoying the activities and festivities that go along with the Christmas season.  Our band and choir have been busy practising Christmas songs to present at our concerts later in December.  But first, on November 11th we will once again be paying tribute to our veterans and to the soldiers who are currently serving their country at home and in distance lands.  Parents are welcome to join us for our Remembrance Day service at 10:45 a.m. on the 11th of November.
So, wishing everyone good health in the upcoming weeks and we hope to see everyone at one of our two concerts.
Merry Christmas and all the best in 2010!

D. Rayner
