Message from the Principal

Principal’s Message for September/October 2010

With only a few days to go before the new school year begins, the teachers and other staff members are busy readying their classrooms for opening day. It is always an exciting day as the students reconnect with friends and settle into their new classes.
This year we are pleased to be part of the Early Learning pilot program, which is also known as ‘all-day kindergarten”. Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. O’Neil (ECE) have been diligently working together to set up the room and centers for their young students. It will be great to have them with us every day and I am sure we will see positive gains in their overall skills and abilities. The BWDSB will also be implementing a new report card system this year. Parents will receive a Progress Report in November, followed by the Ontario Provincial report card in late January and again at the end of June.
Interviews will take place on November 11th and 12th.
As you will see in the September 7th newsletter, we are welcoming a few new faces to KTTPS, and some of our previous staff has taken on new teaching responsibilities. Whether new, reassigned or in the same role as last year, the KTTPS staff strives to work in a professional, collaborative manner, keeping improved student learning as our primary focus.
Aside from curriculum responsibilities, we also look forward to the many extra-curricular activities that will be planned for September and October. Our School BBQ is always an enjoyable evening and a wonderful opportunity for parents and staff members to meet and mingle. Come on out and see your child’s classroom and tour the school.
Be sure to read our monthly school newsletter to keep up-to-date with what is happening at our school. KTTPS is a busy place and there is always a lot going on! Perhaps you might consider becoming one of our wonderful volunteers in some capacity.
When I am out of the building on school business, Mrs. Calcutt and Ms. McFadden will be sharing a co-lead teacher role. They know I am always just a phone call away if they need to reach me.
Please remember to contact me if you have any ideas, questions or concerns. Here’s to the start of another great year at KTTPS!

Principal
